SECTION V

OPTIONAL TREATMENT EQUIPMENT RSF TO DRIP SYSTEM

The American Manufacturing Company, Inc. provides Recirculating Sand Filter Packages and designs based on the EPA design Standards with enhanced denitrification and an organic reduction method for low cost / low maintenance pretreatment.

Designs for Sand filters EPA Ratio Box Design or Intermittent The filter rests during low flow so filter life between maintenance events may be longer but the quality may be detracted from during restart after long rest periods. In addition the EPA design provides sand filter effluent to be discharged to the dripfield with the best possible quality. Drip technology may be used to dose the sandfilter with screened effluent. An emitter blanket is placed below the sand surface to insulate from cold weather and to prevent odors. High rate emitters or micro sprayers are used to distribute the flow over the entire surface area of the sand filter. Coarse sand (over .8 mm) is used to add longer lifer to the filter. Highly treated effluent is discharge by a separate pump to the dripper tubing.

The septic tank and pump chambers are standard concrete tanks which are typically used in the region. The pump tank is provided with a simplex (1 pump) or duplex (2 pump) pump system as required by the county code. The control however is a sandfilter controller in order to properly operate the system. The sand filters are enclosed in modified septic tanks which contain a built up gravity biological sand filter. The sand filter is a recirculating sand filter designed to meet or exceed EPA criteria for discharge. The distribution equipment controls are designed to operate within the criteria recommended by the EPA .

The Single Pump Tank Sand Filter, (Patent No. 5,200,065 & 5,766,475) mixes the sand filter effluent with the septic effluent for organic dilution and optimum nitrogen reduction to provide treated, mixed and filtered effluent to the dripper tubing. This system maximizes the nitrogen reduction while providing the safety factor of secondary effluent quality to the tubing enhancing the soils ability to provide final treatment and disinfection to the recycled wastewater.

In both cases the emitter blanket may be flushed similar to a zone in a field. The emitter blanket requires extra pressure to flush since it has many more emitters. The flow requirements for residential high rate filters are as follows:

Dosing              9.6 gpm @ 35 ft to 120 ft
Flushing14.4 gpm @ 70ft min.

OPTIONAL ATU TREATMENT EQUIPMENT

The American Manufacturing Company, Inc. provides Drip Packages and designs based on NSF Standard 40 with enhanced or without enhanced denitrification. Fixed film treatment method for low cost / low maintenance pretreatment is use. Any ATU must be approved By American prior to use in order to maintain warranty.

A NEW! kind of Treatment and Dispersal System

AMERICAN STSF DRIP
ALTERNATIVE DRAINFIELD

SINGLE TANK SAND FILTER (STSF)

~ECOLOGICAL~ECONOMICAL~EASY TO INSTALL~OFF THE SHELF

SIMPLY AMAZING!
Patent No. 5,200,065 & 5,766.475

This system may be installed in an area smaller than a conventional drainfield. It is already approved in many jurisdictions for new construction and is highly recommended for repairs due to its ability to save landscaping and work in difficult soils.
