SECTION VISpecifications and Equipment Septic Tank and Dosing Tank A septic tank and dosing tank are required. The septic tank receives waste water directly from the house. The pumping chamber should have a liquid capacity of at least two times the daily waste flow from the house and can be a single-compartment design. Most any pretreatment system may be used. If the system is being used to replace an existing septic system the existing septic tank may be used (after being pumped out and cleaned and checked for leaks) and only one additional tank (pump tank) will be needed. It is sized according to state and local regulations for conventional systems. The pump tank should be equal in size to the septic tank for flow equalization capacity. Hydraulic Unit The American Manufacturing Drip Disposal System Hydraulic Unit is available in several models depending on the desires of the designer and the needs of the site. The unit will use a submersible pump. Pressure compensating drip tubing "RAM - BIOLINE" and Fittings The Ram bioline is a Netafim product which provides .65 gallons per hour per emitter. The emitters are self cleaning and located every two feet in the tubing. Ram fittings insert into the tubing and are threaded to female adapters. The female adapters glue to flexible PVC tubing to make end connections for the drip tubing. These Items are supplied by American. Pipes and Fittings Schedule 40 All pipe and fittings in a system should be made of schedule 40 pressure PVC plastic. All joints must be sealed with an appropriate PVC cleaner and cement. All threaded fittings must have Teflon tape pipe dope installed on the threads. Air Vents Air vent/vacuum breakers are required at the high point of every dripper field zone and significantly uphill zone return lines. American will supply air vents as needed and they should be installed in a valve box at least 6" below the surface. The air vents are fitted with 1/2" male pipe threads that fit standard 1/2" female adapters. Valve boxes should be filled with gravel. Brass check valves must be installed after each air release valve. Electrical Service
